INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING Individual counseling can help one deal with many personal topics in life such as anger, depression, anxiety, marriage and relationship challenges, parenting problems, school difficulties, career changes, etc. Individual counseling (sometimes called psychotherapy, talk therapy, or treatment) is a process through which clients work one-on-one with a trained mental health clinician in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. At Rampart, your clinician will create a therapy plan that is as unique as yourself and collaborates with each client using empirical, effective strategies to reach therapeutic goals. CHILD & ADOLESCENT THERAPY It is a positive therapeutic relationship that enhances the effectiveness of therapeutic treatment. At Rampart, we consistently work toward building strong therapist-client relationships. How does that happen? Initial sessions are about building rapport and creating a safe space for young clients to express their feelings and build their communication skills. Rampart Road to Recovery practices through a biopsychosocial lens, where all aspects of the client's life are considered in their treatment planning. Parental consent from any and all legal guardians must be obtained and placed on file with the clinic prior to the commencement of child therapy. What does anxiety or depression look like in a child? Without the coping skills or language skills required to express their feelings, children may complain of physical symptoms, such as body pain or fatigue. Many children demonstrate difficult behaviour or learn to cope by way of self-harm such as hair pulling, nail/skin biting, increased frustration to name a few. As children continue to grow, signs and symptoms can look differently. In addition to depression and anxiety, presenting issues may include bullying, eating problems, impulsivity, increased anger or irritability, fear and panic, low self-perception, and/or gender issues. Your therapist will collaborate with families and employ a holistic approach to therapy, such as mindfulness or expressive therapy. |
